Custom tools for real operations

One System.
Everyone Sees The Same Numbers.

Most businesses run on spreadsheets that don't talk to each other. beyond Xcel builds custom tools that do exactly what your operation needs, accessible from any device, in real time, and owned by you.

See what that looks like ↓
The Problem

The Spreadsheet Isn't Broken.
It Just Wasn't Built for This.

It started as one file. Then another file to handle the thing the first one couldn't. Then a third for the stuff that didn't fit the second. Before long you have a collection that works, technically, as long as everyone remembers to update the right file, in the right order, without making a typo that throws off the formula three columns over.

Sound familiar?

The real cost isn't the spreadsheets. It's everything around them. The twenty minutes every morning pulling numbers from three different files to build a report. The same data entered twice because the planning side and the tracking side have never talked to each other. The history that disappears when someone saves over last month's version. The person on the floor who needs to check something but isn't at a desk.

None of that is your fault. Spreadsheets are the right starting point. They're flexible, familiar, and free. The problem shows up later, when the operation grows past what a spreadsheet was designed to handle, and nobody has a clear path to what comes next.

That's the gap beyond Xcel was built to close.

The Process

How It Works

No forms. No bots. No automated questionnaires that make you describe your business in a dropdown menu.

01

We Talk

A real conversation, by phone or video call. You show me what you're working with. I ask questions. We figure out together what you actually need, which is sometimes different from what you think you need going in. That's not a criticism, that's just how this works when someone takes the time to ask.

02

I Build It

You get progress along the way, not a surprise at the finish line. If something needs to change mid-build, we talk about it and adjust. The goal is a tool that fits how you actually work, not how a generic template assumes you work.

03

You Own It, and We Get It Running

Part of the build is getting it deployed and accessible the way your operation needs. Running on a single machine, hosted on your network, or accessible from anywhere in the world. After that, the tool is yours. No subscriptions, no vendor lock-in, no monthly fee that goes up every year. When you need something added or updated down the road, you know exactly who to call. If your computer stops turning on, I'm probably not your guy for that, but I know people.

The Work

Built. Deployed. In Daily Use.

Two projects. Different scale, same problem, same approach.

Operations Platform

Mid-Size Warehouse Operation, Tampa FL

A facility running inbound receiving, sort lines, logistics scheduling, and floor audits across a collection of Excel files that had never talked to each other. The same shipment entered in three places. No historical record. No real-time visibility.

What got built was a full operations platform. Two interfaces, live scale monitoring across 24 connected pieces of hardware, a Gaylord audit system with enforced time windows and photo capture, and inbound forecasting built on months of data that didn't exist anywhere before the system started collecting it.

The VP of Operations approved it. The floor team uses it every shift. It runs on a laptop.

Personal Finance

A Finance System That Finally Made Sense

Two spreadsheets that had been doing the job for years. One for tracking, one for planning. Neither one knew the other existed. Every paycheck entered twice. Every bill copied by hand. A formula that had to be manually edited every single morning.

One application replaced both files entirely. Budget to checkbook with a button. Auto-categorization on every transaction. A dashboard that answers "can I spend money right now" without opening anything or doing any math.

Two years of transaction history imported at launch. Nothing lost.

Detailed case studies available on request.

Who's on the Other End of the Call

Charles Tillman

I'm based in Tampa and I've spent 23 years in IT, from the Marines to enterprise infrastructure to running operations technology at a high-volume logistics facility. I've built systems that got flagged for company-wide adoption. I've also fixed printers at 6am because that's sometimes what the job is.

I started beyond Xcel because I kept seeing the same problem. Smart people running real operations on spreadsheets that had outgrown what spreadsheets were built to do, with no clear path to something better. The tools to fix it aren't expensive or complicated. What's been missing is someone willing to sit down, understand how the work actually happens, and build something that fits it.

That's the only thing I do here. One client at a time. No employees, no account managers, no handoffs. You talk to me, I build it, I get it running, and I'm still the person you call when you want something added six months later.

I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma where that's just what a professional relationship looked like. I'm trying to bring that back.

Let's Talk

If anything on this page sounded like your situation, the next step is a conversation. Not a form, not an automated questionnaire. Just a call or video chat where you show me what you're working with and we figure out together whether I can help.

There's no pitch. If what you need is something I can build, I'll tell you. If it's not, I'll tell you that too.
